THE ART OF HOSTING AN EVENT OR SEMINAR Being a host is as much an art as it is a management discipline. There is much you can do individually and as a team to make your guests feel welcome and to make the experience a positive and productive one. You will learn how to: ● Ensure you and your guests have comfortable and productive conversations through prior planning ● Be a great host and identify opportunities to help customers attending your event ● Remember people’s names ● Initiate conversations with people you don’t know and find common ground quickly and easily ● Use handshakes, territorial space, and body language to build rapport ● Introduce customers to appropriate employees and other customers ● Exit a conversation politely ● Switch topics to make conversations more productive ● Join conversations already in progress ● Determine which personal and professional topics are appropriate when socializing ● Use listening techniques to deepen your relationship and sustain your conversations ● Prepare your hosting site for the arrival of visitors Click on Private Coaching or Group Training to learn more about the training format that’s best for you. “We hosted a seminar today for prospects on Selecting a Software System. We all felt a heightened awareness of our hosting skills. One prospect made a point of commenting that one reason he wants to do business with us is because he always feels so welcome when he comes to our office.”
